The power of a smile

I was stuck in a traffic jam. In the back of the car next to me sat a boy who was clearly disabled,
his head and hands making slow spastic movements.
Our eyes locked — and suddenly a most magnificent smile spread across his face.
It transfigured him into something out of this world, a radiance of sublime light, an angel of love.
I saw nothing but his perfection, and for a timeless moment our souls connected in their boundlessness.
I kept smiling long after the boy was gone, dancing in the magic of this experience.
